Ever wanted to learn how to swordfight? Join the latest beginners course with Thame Duellists Fencing Club!  Fencing is an exciting, modern Olympic sport but one which is also rich in history. It's suitable for all ages and you can progress at your own pace, whether you want intense competition with high-tech equipment or prefer a gentler, more social experience exploring the graceful movements of fencing or the mental challenge of facing an opponent - or combine all three! This nine-week introduction to fencing will introduce you to all the core skills needed for fencing; over the course you'll learn to attack and defend yourself; try out electronic scoring equipment; and work towards a British Fencing level 1 certificate (optional; no extra cost). No special equipment is required - we provide everything you'll need. We recommend that participants wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing - a t-shirt, tracksuit trousers and trainers is ideal - and bring a bottle of water. Course runs: 19 Jan 2023 - 23 Mar 2023, Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm. (No session 16 Feb 2023)
